HOW TO LAY A PRETTY TABLE
My appreciation for laying a pretty dinner table at home has only kept growing throughout the last year and a bit. Fridays, birthdays or friends visiting, there is always a reason to whip up a festive setup.
I love playing around with different props, but this set-up is my favourite go to and works for any occasion, any season.
For a super simple but quite a fancy dinner table that suits any occasion, you will need:
A nice linen table cloth that complements the colour palette of your house/dining room space. I got mine from HM Home.
Gold sequin runner (Sequins are great for bouncing the candlelight. I LOVE gold, but if you prefer chrome and silver, that will work just perfectly.) Find similar here.
Gold cutlery (or silver, if that’s your preference) - I don’t like having the “special occasion” tableware, but the gold cutlery is hand-wash only so it has become that special touch. I got mine from Sklum, but have since experienced their extreme luck of customer service when something goes wrong, so can’t recommend them. HM Home stack pretty gold cutlery at the moment.
Nice glassware - wine (you can go for white AND red if you fancy) and water glass.
Pretty plates - mine are from Helen James Considered collection for Dunnes Home. It’s just so pretty. We use it all the time, and these pretty plates give me joy, no matter if the table is fancily done or not.
Fabric napkins that either match or complement the tablecloth. Mine are from HM Home.
Candles, grouped in 3 bunches of 2. My candleholders and candles are also from HM Home.
Flowers. I cut some roses from my garden and placed them into tiny bottles. You can use any flowers, supermarket, garden or wild, use branches, wild grasses, ivy. Whatever you can forage, it’s nice to add a bit of greenery.
The hanging centerpiece is SUPER easy, it’s basically a stick suspended from the ceiling with a sewing thread, attached by command hooks. And ivy wines trailed down from the stick. I made very detailed tutorial for a hanging Christmas centerpiece, you can watch it here.
And there you have it! Super easy, yet so special.
