DREAM CHAIRS COME TRUE
Brexit happened, Made.com stopped shipping to Ireland, my dining chair plans were wrecked, and I had to ditch the initial dream and get the second best on my favourite dining chair list. But guess what? I’m sorry Made, but the chairs I landed on are absolutely perfect.
I found the dream chair on S. Alternative Furniture - it’s a small, family run business based in Dublin, and they stock the most beautiful items from really amazing brands, including HK Living, a homeware brand that 100% matches my taste.
They are not the most expensive chair I’ve ever seen, but they definitely aren’t from the budget friendly end either, so, to start with, I ordered just one to check it out before I fully commit. The chair was so sturdy and spacious, and it’s quite heavy but the discreet black footing underneath makes it glide across the floor without any noise or damage. The quality is pretty amazing. Big, sturdy and heavy, and yet they visually don’t take up space at all (the running moto for our house - fill it with items that don’t take up space, at least visually. The wrong furniture can quickly make even big and bright spaces feel cramped and claustrophobic).
The chairs are made of metal so can be a bit hard on your tush. They actually have padding that you can buy separately. I wanted to keep that transparent look and don’t love the padding, so I just added sheepskin instead. It makes them super comfortable, and looks lovely, too. The Husband uses cushion for his back, I find the back support to be comfortable as is, so this is probably an individual thing that can easily be sorted either way. All in all, LOVE and RECOMMEND if you’d like add a timeless, light, striking and slightly industrial look to your dining area.
